Carneros Inn; Gorgeous Venue for Napa Wedding

One of our favorite venues to work at in the beautiful wine country is Carneros Inn in Napa, CA. Not only does it provide you with breathtaking views of the Napa Valley, their exquisite selection of wine and food is perfect for those “foodie” couples out there. We love this location! It is wonderful for our wine country brides as well as a great escape for a fabulous destination wedding. The above photos are from a wedding we designed & planned a few years back for Ashley & Scott – it was an intimate destination wedding for this couple, and despite the morning rain, the couple and their guests all had a fabulous time.  We are super excited about our upcoming September wedding at The Carneros Inn for local San Francisco couple Rosanna & Andrea – be sure to check back later this year for photos from their fabulous Italian inspired fete.

Check out The Carneros Inn for more venue details: http://www.thecarnerosinn.com

Palm Springs Wedding at the Cree Estate – Sneak Peek

When I first met Sara, I knew I wasn’t dealing with the usual bride. Toting a bottle of almond champagne, Sara had just returned from a month long trip to Africa where she spent her days working with orphans after quitting her job as a lawyer at a top firm. After spending the past 8 months planning and designing her wedding, the two things I love most about Sara are her deadpan sarcasm and her compassion, and I’m so happy that she has become much more than a past client – she has become a friend.

Her original color scheme of turquoise, yellow, gray and black did a 180 and became lavender, gray, cream and black, but the overall feel remained the same: a fresh, fun mixture of modern and classic with a clean look. The venue was the lovely Cree Estate in Palm Springs, a sprawling private ranch house with two stunning pools and two guest houses. The best part was that the entire bridal party got to stay on site and spend the weekend in the house, making it like a mini destination wedding/weekend long party for all Sara and Matt’s nearest and dearest.

Kyle and Allison from Studio 28 Photo just did a great feature on the wedding on their blog, so I’m reposting just a sneak peek until I get the full CD with pictures. 🙂 The wedding went so smoothly and was an absolute blast for the guests, who danced and partied until even after the DJ packed up and went home.  It was such an honor and a pleasure to plan their wedding, and made me once again feel blessed that I have the best clients in the world. 🙂     XO, Yelena

Florida Wedding Venue Profile: Ca’d’Zan

I mentioned in my last post that I’m super excited to start featuring guest blogs by other wedding industry professionals. Here to kick off the first guest blog on The Stylish Soiree is Denise Woods of Denise Woods Weddings & Special Events Design Firm. Denise is a wonderfully talented wedding planner in Florida, and is acquainted with some of the most stunning venues in the state. I asked her to share some of her favorites, and she sent me a writeup on the spectacular Ca’d’Zan in Sarasota, Florida:

– From Denise… –

The King of the Circus, John Ringling and his wife, Mable built this Italian Renaissance style mansion overlooking the Sarasota Bay in 1924. In 1927, John Ringling moved the winter quarters of his Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus from Bridgeport, Connecticut, to Sarasota, Florida. Open to the public, Ca’d’Zan rapidly became the most visited tourist attraction and one of Florida’s most popular wedding venues.

Situated on the water’s edge of the 66 acre Ringling Museum estate, this is very much a hands-on museum, where every third Thursday in the month people are invited for cocktails on the Ca d’Zan’s terrace, and where many Sarasota residents and visitors can enjoy lectures and take part in cultural workshops. The Ringling Museum also houses a teacher training facility, art conservation laboratory, art library and acres of parkland containing banyan and palm trees, along with a host of exotic and native plants. Its construction masterminded by Mable Ringling, who ensured that the interior of the mansion was as extravagant and beautifully finished as the exterior. The exterior was covered with a flamboyant mix of glazed tiles, mosaics, stained-glass windows and cast stone.

Seventeenth century tapestries hang from the upper gallery, and an 1875 French tapestry rug covers the marble tile floors. Reproduction Louis XV gilt furniture establishes the formal style that the Ringling’s wished to achieve for this mansion. The Tower, center over the house’s main facade, was lit whenever the Ringling’s were in residence at Ca’d’Zan. From the thirty-one foot tower, one could survey the vast extent of the property and the beautiful Sarasota Bay.

With its 8,000 square foot terrace, over the years Ca’D’Zan has captivated thousands of wedding guests with its splendor and history. A wedding at the Ca’d’Zan, with the Ringling Museum to the east and the Sarasota Bay to the west, is a day your guests will never forget.

September Wedding Dress Sample Sale

Rosa Clara 3

The drama, beauty and grace that is Rosa Clara

Bay Area bargain hunting brides, listen up! Vianett Bridal, a fab bridal boutique located in the indescribably perfect little Napa town of Yountville, is having a wedding dress sample sale for the entire month of September.  I wrote an article on Vianett Bridal a few months back, and the owner Ana is just the most wonderful woman to work with. I am always for supporting and working with wedding businesses run by great people, so I wanted to pass the word along to any Napa or San Francisco brides who are searching for their dream dress.

Vianett carries hard to find lines like Novia d’Art, Rosa Clara, TWO by Rosa Clara, Renella di Fina and, it’s own line, VIANETT Couture.  These are some of the most fabulous lines out there in my opinion, especially Rosa Clara, who makes just the type of breathtaking couture gowns that make me swoon. However, even if you don’t find your dream dress at their sample sale I can guarantee you will have the most wonderful day visiting Vianett.  I know this because three of Thomas Keller’s world famous, Michelin rated restaurants are located just across the street: French Laundry (but with a $275 per person price tag, you might want to save this one for a special occasion!), Bouchon (fantastic French bistro) & Bouchon Bakery (drool worthy french macarons, breads & desserts), and finally, Ad Hoc (American Classics with the freshest ingredients).

The meals I’ve had at Ad Hoc and Bouchon have been among the best in my life, which is saying a LOT for a world-traveling foodie born to a gourmet cook. No joke ladies, you must try these restaurants if you visit Vianett – just be sure to book the meal for after the trying on, since the food coma Buddah belly isn’t a bride’s best accessory. 🙂 Additionally, Vianett Bridal is located in the lovely V Marketplace, a gorgeous rustic building oozing with charm that just so happens to host weddings.  Napa in fall is gorgeous, V Marketplace is lovely, the food in Yountville is to die for and Vianett is having a sample sale on beautiful gowns for the entire month of September. If you didn’t already have a reason for visiting the area, I hope The Stylish Soiree’s latest tip has given you one.

Napa: Giant Macarons & V Marketplace

bouchon-bakery-macarons-napa

This weekend I accompanied the hubby up north to San Francisco for work, and squeezed in a little fun with a day trip to Yountville in Napa. After devouring what might have been the best steamed mussels and fries on earth at Thomas Keller’s French bistro-style restaurant Bouchon, we headed across the courtyard to hit up Bouchon Bakery.  One lemon tart, loaf of freshly-baked sourdough bread, chocolate chip cookie and two giant macarons (check out the size of the one in my hand) later, we found ourselves suffering from a massive food coma, but were in heaven. Everything was delicious, but I cannot get over Bouchon Bakery’s amazing oversized macarons. The chocolate one was light and crispy on the outside but tasted just like a rich fudge brownie on the inside. My one-track mind immediately thought of how these macarons would make a perfect wedding favor for a foodie couple. After devouring our goodies, hubs and I rolled ourselves over to event space V Marketplace on the other side of the street.

I first heard of V Marketplace when I was writing a story for Better Bridal on Viannett, an upscale bridal salon. V Marketplace is a quaint collection of boutiques tucked inside a striking ivy-covered building. Outside the marketplace is a gorgeous event space that is available for weddings, and I wanted to check it out for myself. It was indeed a gorgeous Napa venu, and I would love to have a bride hold her ceremony or reception on the site. Beautiful landscaping, lovely main street style buildings, amazing food options and gorgeous Napa weather – it just doesn’t get much better than that.
